The Calm Before...

Right up the street from the Pioneer cemetery is, well was, the Blue Ash airport. Growing up, I saw a lot of little planes take off and land there. Now it's a huge development which includes restaurants, businesses, a huge park (Summit Park) and homes ranging from apartments to big single family houses. I was out that way again a few days ago, and walked around the park for an hour or so. The weather took a pretty dramatic turn later that day.

Frosted

I like taking photos of the frost in the morning, my only complaints being...it's cold (naturally) and I have to get up and out early to catch it before the sun hits it and sends it away. We don't get the crazy hoar frost here in Ohio that we'd see in places we lived in Europe, but we still get a nice frost now and again.

Carpenter's Run Pioneer Cemetery

Pioneer cemeteries (roughly mid 1800's) are quite common in Ohio and especially in the vicinity of the Ohio river valley. Growing up, I always knew this particular cemetery as "Plainfield Cemetery" but now, many, many years later, Blue Ash is a well developed area with expensive homes, golf courses etc and things have been "cleaned up" a bit, shall we say. "Carpenter's Run Pioneer Cemetery" is one of the beneficiaries of that development. I stopped by recently and took some photos. Someone, or ones, took the time to try to piece together broken headstones, and in general, really make and keep the whole cemetery neat and orderly.

Out & About With the Camera

A half-dozen photos from today.
I was working on the New Year resolutions with regards to photography.
- Got out, away from the house for a bit to the (Cincinnati Nature Center)
- Took, and more importantly USED! a tripod, and only forgot to turn off the IS for one set of shots
- Used a different lens for at least some of the shots, my Lensbaby "Composer" I originally received for Christmas 2010
