The Red Leaf

We Remember....

...but we do not learn. World War 1, or what much of the world calls "The Great War", started 100 years ago this past summer and ended 96 years ago Tuesday (The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month). Today is Remembrance Sunday and many locales in the United Kingdom have solemn ceremonies, people wear red poppies and lay wreaths at memorials honoring those lost in the war.

This morning's walk was a little damp and drizzly. I wandered through Oxford University Parks instead of a trek along the canal which would have been very muddy. Even though fall is very much here, a number of things were still blooming.

And then the red eye...

When the flight attendant woke me to tell me to close my window so when the sun came up it wouldn't wake people, I looked out and took the last three photos. It was an amazing light show that lasted quite a while. I struggled to get decent photos through an airplane window without a tripod etc. but these three sort of came out well enough to get the idea.
